On February 16, 2024, voting by the members of the St. Petersburg Business Association (SPIBA) for the election of Legal Committee Co-Chairs was completed.
Igor Gorokhov, Principal Associate of the Dispute Resolution practice at CLS, was re-elected to the co-chair position of the SPIBA Legal Committee. This will be Igor’s fourth term as co-chair of the Committee.
The Committee works on improving the legislative base in an effort to create favorable conditions for doing business in Russia’s North-West region. The Committee focuses on identifying problems companies in the North-West face in business and trade, as well as with tax laws, and on lobbying for solutions to these problems on behalf of SPIBA members, developing legislative initiatives and recommendations and assisting in building a constructive dialog between business, government and communities.
“I plan on one hand to substantially expand our Committee's interaction with other Committees of the Association, which will allow to gain a comprehensive view of the issues being discussed and to not just obtain effective legal solutions, but also to find ways to implement them on the ground. On the other hand, I will put forth the effort needed for our Committee to build stronger ties with the authorities – involving them in the dialog with business on issues of concern for the Association's members here and now. I believe such a format for cooperation and for exchanging ideas will guarantee greater fullness and quality of our Committee's work. This will be my contribution to the work for the benefit of our Association," notes Igor Gorokhov in his election speech.
