On July 18, 2017 the round table “Main strategic tasks and systemic solutions as part of the court reform and reform of criminal legislation in the economic field” was held at the Federation Council Committee for constitutional legislation and state construction jointly with the Russian Federation Presidential Commissioner for Entrepreneurs’ Rights and the P. A. Stolypin Institute of Economic Growth, where Irina Onikienko, Partner of Capital Legal Services, member of the Council of the Federal Bar Association of the Russian Federation took part.
Boris Titov, Russian Federation Presidential Commissioner for Entrepreneurs’ Rights, and Aleksey Aleksandrov, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee for constitutional legislation and state construction, hosted the meeting.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the key issues of the strategy for Russia’s social and economic development. Irrespective of the improvements in Russia’s positions in the World Bank’s annual research on the ease of doing business index, our country is still far behind the leading countries. The bureaucratic and administrative procedures impede the effective conduct and development of business in Russia. Our lawyers face such situations on a regular basis in the course of implementing clients’ projects. The motive for Irina’s participation in this event was, first of all, a keen wish to inform of the main real life business challenges and to discuss possible improvements.
“Today, the problem of infringement on business is very vital. Pressure on business is growing, with no signs of relaxation. In the course of the discussion, mutual proposals on improving the situation were elaborated,” – Irina Onikienko comments.
