The Public-Private Partnership practice at the CLS law firm organized a first-of-its-kind case championship in this field for students.
The event was held together with the Commercial Law Club of the St. Petersburg State University’s Law Department.
The students formed nine teams and battled for the most valuable prize – internship at CLS, with a possibility of subsequent hiring.
Strict, but fair judges Svetlana Maslova, Head of the Center for Public Private Partnership Studies Laboratory, Maria Skryabina, Executive Director of Gazprombank’s Infrastructure Projects and PPP Department and Julia Antipova, Head of the Public-Private Partnership practice at CLS, for starters gave the participants a PPP task to resolve. The students needed to draw up a legal report on whether a construction company being a client complies with the terms and conditions necessary for entering into a concession agreement. Three of the nine teams succeeded in this task.
Winners of the first phase were given the task of writing an opposition to a lawsuit and defending it before a jury. Members of the Planet PPP team won the case championship, and the ladies will join the Capital Legal Services team as interns in the coming year 2019. The experts separately noted Veronika Shirokozhukhova, member of the Ad Honores team, as a competent specialist and convincing speaker. Veronika will also be extended an invitation to work with Capital Legal Services.
All the arrangements regarding the case championship were handled by CLS associate Anna Gambeeva and PhD student of the Commercial Law Department Viktor Eremin.
