Capital Legal Services a leading Russian law firm, will head the discussion on the rules for non‑discriminatory access and trade policies to be held within the relevant session at the conference “Antitrust regulation in Russia.” The session will be held on October 10, 2014 at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Moscow from 12:20 to 13:35. Among the session participants will be representatives of the Russian antitrust authority (the FAS) and heads of legal departments of leading companies in various industries.
Irina Akimova, Of Counsel at Capital Legal Services, will be moderating the session and will discuss the prospects for regulating the companies’ activity through imposition of industrial rules for non‑discriminatory access and application of trade policies, as well as possibilities for and consequences of applying these instruments. The possible economic effect of such regulation and its influence on the competitive situation in various fields of business is planned to be discussed. The key question to which the discussion will be seeking an answer, is whether a compromise between the interests of the regulator, business and consumers is possible.
“Development and approval of trade policies with the antitrust authority can make the sales process of companies more transparent. At the same time, representatives of the business community have voiced serious concerns regarding the introduction of such regulation. That is why we plan to cover the benefits and possible negative consequences of using trade policies, with representatives of business and the regulator participating in the discussion,” – noted Irina Akimova, Of Counsel at Capital Legal Services.
