- Date: 15.07.2015
The St. Petersburg office of Capital Legal Services together with the Russian-Asian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RASPP) held a meeting with representatives of Chinese business and Russian entrepreneurs.
The topics discussed were the general principles of working in Russia and practical aspects of arranging and doing business.
Managing Partner of Capital Legal Services Vladislav Zabrodin and Partner Irina Onikienko greeted the attending guests.
Chinese businessmen were particularly interested in investments into such areas as real estate and construction, auto market, logistics, electric appliances and goods. There is also growing interest in arranging trading of Chinese goods through e-sales.
Having noted the difficulties of working under constantly changing Russian laws, one of the guests stressed that “The Russian market is very interesting for Chinese business, but also very mysterious.” Chinese businessmen need to understand the particulars of working in Russia, the requirements for opening a representative office or a branch of a foreign company, and to account for the complications and obstacles that can occur when entering a new market. The meeting participants showed great interest in the discussion of the opportunity for foreign business to receive tax cuts, as well as in antitrust regulation of the market and combatting corruption. Senior Associates of the firm Anastasia Fomicheva, Dmitry Churin and Rimma Tolmacheva gave detailed responses to questions from Chinese businessmen, and proposed practical solutions for various problematic aspects.
“Doing business in Russia is tied to certain risks which we are ready to face because of our great interest in completely new sales volumes. The Russian market is changing quickly and new growth opportunities constantly appear for promoting Chinese goods and services. It is substantially different from the Chinese market, and we need a reliable consultant to support our projects. The associates of Capital Legal Services have everything needed – experience in supporting projects in various industries, necessary expertise and a readiness to assist,” stressed one of the Chinese delegates.
The participants noted the friendly atmosphere and good organization of the event as creating comfort in any business circumstances is one of the most important principles of work at Capital Legal Services.
