The “Director’s new adventures in Russia” seminar dedicated to directors’ liability was held in St. Petersburg on June 14, 2017. Capital Legal Services and the St. Petersburg International Business Association (SPIBA) organized the event.
The subject of directors’ liability traditionally attracts great interest. Recent practice shows that the number of cases when a director was held liable while acting in good faith within the framework of the company’s public obligations or in relation to the company itself has increased. In this connection, the director needs to be more circumspect when choosing contractors and to effectively delegate his powers.
Partner Irina Onikienko, Senior Associate Pavel Kislovskiy, Associates Daniil Petrukh and Kliment Nechaev spoke at the seminar.
Within the framework of the event, the associates of Capital Legal Services covered the following issues:
- The director’s liability to the company
- Director and company bankruptcy
- Administrative liability
- Criminal liability for a director
About 30 persons took part in the event, including business representatives, heads of legal departments of large foreign and Russian companies.
The audience was greatly interested in the presentation, and the participants noted its “practical and informative nature.”
