At the end of October, the annual Minsk Legal Forum took place. Participants of the most informal and one of the brightest legal events of the year discussed client service, in particular, issues of maintaining confidentiality of a client’s information.
Irina Onikienko, Partner and attorney at law at Capital Legal Services, spoke about the theory and practice of creating a Chinese Wall in the work of legal consultants in the CIS.
A Chinese Wall is an information barrier that the firm itself creates inside so as to not allow leaks of confidential information. The term is invariably tied to the term Cone of Silence, an oath by a lawyer to not divulge confidential information inside the firm.
