Vladislav Zabrodin, Managing Partner of Capital Legal Services, spoke at the IBA Law Firm Management conference.
The IBA annual Law Firm Management conference, which took place on December 1, 2017 in Moscow, is traditionally a unique platform for discussing the issues of the legal business, uniting lawyers from different countries of the world. This is an opportunity for law firm partners to hear about their colleagues’ experience, learn about the latest global trends and find new business acquaintances.
During the plenary session “Are national law firms getting a bigger piece of a pie in the region?” managing partners of Russian and international law firms shared their vision and thoughts on what is happening on the market. All participants agreed that the Russian market is shrinking, and at the same time, work is being redistributed more from foreign law firms to Russian law firms. In Vladislav Zabrodin’s opinion, Russian law firms have a substantial advantage in their greater efficiency, quick decision-making and more flexible approach to the client. The advantage of foreign law firms is their size, turnover, history and broad international presence.
“This is the specific direction in which Russian law firms need to grow to become successful. In addition, today’s market conditions require a law firm to understand the per-hour cost of a lawyer’s work so they can set the price of services as appropriate and work effectively,” Vladislav Zabrodin, Managing Partner of Capital Legal Services believes.
