Managing Partner Vladislav Zabrodin speaks at the discussion session “Lawmaking and business: positive cooperation” of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum
On May 18, 2017, the discussion session “Lawmaking and business: positive cooperation” was held as part of the VII St. Petersburg International Legal Forum. Vladislav Zabrodin, Managing Partner at Capital Legal Services, spoke at the session.
Lawmaking and business – this phrase is becoming more and more popular every year. Engaging business in the legislative process is likely one of the key components of success in writing laws that truly work.
Vladislav in his report addressed the issues to be resolved in the area of cooperation between the government and business.
At the same time, he provided examples of positive cooperation between the government and business, including, for instance, the activity of the Federal Antitrust Service. In more detail, Vladislav spoke about an example of lawmaking in public-private partnership: “A substantial part of our activity is connected with positive experience of cooperating with the government. This is possibly because PPP is a rather new area, and the government carefully considers the opinions of consultants and business representatives. A good example is the law on concession agreements, where the government accepted substantial changes proposed by consultants.”
In the course of the discussion, the participants discussed the more vital lawmaking initiatives, challenges which arise in the course of joint work of the government and business, as well as listened to the experience of foreign colleagues.
