Senior Associate Anastasya Kuzmina speaks about disputing customs resolutions

On December 8, 2017, the annual meeting of the Logistics and Foreign Trade Club took place in St. Petersburg, organized by the Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce jointly with the Russian-German Foreign Trade Chamber.
Anastasya Kuzmina, Senior Associate of the Dispute Resolution practice, spoke at the event. Anastasya told the audience about the practice of contesting resolutions of the customs authorities concerning classification of goods under the Nomenclature of Goods for Foreign Trade of the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as on the strategy during a dispute and special aspects of gathering evidence based on specific cases.
During the event, experts in customs law discussed vital issues of customs documentation, including the transition to electronic declarations, as well as improvements to the institute of the authorized economic operator, considering the changes in regulations tied to the Eurasian Economic Union’s Customs Code being adopted.
Among those invited, representatives of the North-West Customs Directorate attended, answering questions from business representatives on planned changes in the work of customs authorities.
The questions the participants discussed are of concern for many companies and affect how business behaves; hence, the speakers’ presentations and the ensuing debate were of great interest for the audience.
