Infrastructure Projects in Russia: New Opportunities for the Private Sector

It is a well-known fact that a country’s competitive economic advantage depends on a properly articulated infrastructure vision and long-term planning. Such problems as poor quality of roads, outdated water supply facilities and lack of infrastructure have lately been attracting significant attention of the Russian authorities. For example, in 2014 the Russian Federal Road Agency plans to construct and reconstruct 84 sections of federal public roads with the overall length of 534.2 km and cost of over 2.8 billion Euro. Also, the implementation of the project on construction of a highway bridge across the Lena River in Yakutsk will commence in 2014 based on a concession agreement.
